BY DANIEL RUSSEL However, despite it's length, the bad reputation that is associated with the novel Anna Karenina should not be there at all. It is a very well written book, combining plot twists, dynamic characters, and a stunningly realistic story line that capture the readers attention immediately.
In the novel, we are introduced to so many characters that it would be utterly ridiculous to name the all here. However, the plot line is easier to summarize. It consists of two main threads - the disastrous love affair between Anna Karenina and her lover, Count Vronsky, and the Levin's search for meaning in life. Anna Karenina is living a good life with her husband, Aleksey, when she suddenly becomes attracted to a military officer named Vronsky. Vronsky is also entranced by Anna's beauty, and desires to have her as his own. They eventually do start meeting up in secret - that is until her husband finds out. Meanwhile, in another part of Russia, Levin, a middle-class farmer, is having an existential crisis. He is trying to find a purpose to the life and death he sees all around him. He eventually does find it...in a most interesting place. To find out how each of the threads end, read the book for yourself! I can promise you that it will certainly be a very engaging read!
